Mayoral forum to focus on 'Law and Justice'
CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The six candidates vying for Mayor Joe Riley's seat next month are heading to a forum Thursday night.
The Charleston County Bar Association is hosting the event with several other organizations.
The forum will give the Charleston community a chance to ask candidates questions related to law and justice.
The event kicks off at 7 p.m. and will be held at Founder's Hall at Charles Towne Landing (1500 Old Towne Road).
The six candidates vying to succeed longtime Charleston Mayor Joseph P. Riley Jr. in this fall's city election are State Rep. Leon Stavrinakis, nonprofit leader Ginny Deerin, Councilman William Dudley Gregorie, former council member Maurice Washington, consultant Toby Smith, and businessman John Tecklenburg.
Riley retires at the end of the year after 40 years in office. He is the longest-serving mayor in Charleston history.
The election will take place Nov. 3.
