Missing college student found dead near lake
PAUPACK TOWNSHIP, WAYNE COUNTY (WOLF) -- Police say the body of a missing Temple University student from the Philly area was found here.
Jenna Burleigh, 22, a student from Harleysville, Montgomery County, was last seen on Thursday around 2 a.m. at Pub Webb, a bar near the Temple campus.
The Temple police had posted a picture of the missing girl on Twitter.
A neighbor says fire police blocked East Shore Drive at Paupackan Lake Estates all afternoon. When we arrived, a security officer parked at that street said he was only letting the members and guests in.
On Friday, state police say the Philadelphia police and FBI called them to help in the ongoing investigation into the missing woman. They drafted a search warrant, which the DA's office approved.
On Saturday, police say they found her body on a property here. They searched and processed the area and the coroner's office is also assisting.
Philadelphia police held a 7:45 p.m. Saturday press conference, where they said Burleigh's body was found on the property of a "person of interest," Johsua Hupperterz, 29.
Police say Hupperterz is now being charged with murder, after they believe he transported the body from Philly to his grandmother's home in Wayne County.
Hupperterz also went to Temple and has a prior criminal history in Wayne and Lackawanna counties, including convictions on crimes such as burglary and drunk driving.
As for Burleigh, she just transferred to Temple this week from Montgomery County Community College, as a junior majoring in film and media arts, according to a statement from Temple.
