Pepco made a little girl's dream come true Friday after she accidentally sent them a letter meant for Petco asking for a pet hamster, the Potomac Electric Power Company tweeted.

The 8-year-old's mother says her daughter's teacher helped her look up the address to Petco, but accidentally looked up the address to Pepco's D.C. Edison Place headquarters instead.

When Cornell Reddon, who works in customer care, received the letter he decided to purchase a hamster for 8-year-old Serenity with the help of Clay Anderson, who also works in customer care. Since the letter was meant for Petco, they decided to make the purchase from the popular pet chain after contacting Serenity's mother to make sure it was okay.

A Petco representative said Serenity's mother told Petco her daughter had been reading up on hamsters for two years, so it was really important to them "to make it happen."

Read Serenity's letter below:

"Dear Petco pets,
I'm Serenity. I'm 8 years old. I live in Washington DC. I'm going to 2nd grade. May I please have a hamester [sic] because I never had a pet. I ?? hamesters [sic] because they eat carrots, and grass. I will take good care of it because I'll let it eat. I will make sure I clean the cage. If I reseive [sic] a hamster, I will do better in school, make more friends, and become responsible."
