CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- The Charleston Fire Department on Thursday will honor the nine firefighters who died fighting the Sofa Super Store fire eight years ago.

The ceremony will begin at 7 p.m. at 1807 Savannah Highway with a lineup of department personnel, the reading of the nine firefighters' names and the ringing of the bell.

The ceremony is open to the public. Visitors are encouraged to use off-site parking since parking at the site will be limited.

Firefighters will also initiate a watch at the memorial site's flagpole starting at midnight and continuing for 24 hours. The community is welcome to visit the site throughout the vigil.
