High School Hero Week 0: Palmetto Christian QB J.T. Waters

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Over a three-day span last week, Palmetto Christian quarterback J.T. Waters put together some incredible numbers, earning him the distinction of being ABCNews4's first High School Hero of the season.{} {}It started for Waters last Tuesday night against Porter Gaud High School where he threw for a pair of touchdowns and ran for six more in a 62-49 upset victory over the Cyclones. Waters accounted for more than 600 yards of offense, 300 on the ground and 300 in the air. And he did it all in a game his team trailed 21-6 at one point. "You get down 21-6 like that and you got to step up, you got to get motivated," he said. "You got to find something that will pull you out and you got to run with it."Then three days later at the 43rd Annual Sertoma Football Classic, he did it again, leading the Eagles to a come from behind win over Garrett Tech. Waters says he's like a prize fighter with his own special style."When you see that hole, just bust it. Don't turn around, just keep going," Waters said of his strategy in the pocket. "You get tired, but you can't think about getting tired."Head coach Jim Daniel has one word for Waters: unbelievable. "It's his senior year and he's grown up in the system, knows the system well and he had an unbelievable game," Daniel said.
