South Carolina meets Cornell in Charleston Classic

CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) - South Carolina will play Cornell in the opening round of the Charleston Classic, while Southern California opens the tourney with Akron.

Tournament organizers announced the matchups for the eight-team event on Tuesday. The tournament is scheduled for College of Charleston's TD Arena from Nov. 20-23.

Former tournament champion Miami faces Drexel and Penn State plays Charlotte in the other tournament games.

Massachusetts defeated Clemson 62-56 to win last year's Charleston Classic. Miami won the 2009 title, defeating South Carolina.
