Burke claims 2A basketball title with 56-53 win over Keenan

Saturday's win in Columbia was an emotional one for the Burke Bulldogs and their coach.

After the game, Burke coach Deon Richardson credited the 56-53 win over Keenan to his team's focus.

Burke is no stranger to winning championships, but neither is Keenan. They both won state titles two years ago, but Burke's last title was in a conference playing smaller schools at the 1A level.

The first half ended in Keenan's favor, 29-26. The second half was a different story as the Bulldogs made a comeback and held a narrow lead as the final minutes ticked off the clock.

Coach Richardson said his team's win was for Charleston.
