With their backs against the wall, down 1-0 in the state championship series, Hanahan’s softball team roared back to life Wednesday night to force a deciding game three.

Looking for their first state title in 9 years, the Hawks forced a decisive game three after holding on to beat Crescent, 2-1, in game two Wednesday.

Tied 1-1 in the bottom of the fifth, Hanahan scored the go-ahead and game winning run after Ashley Meckley hit a triple, then scored on a sacrifice fly by Rachel Shelley.

Pitcher Mackenzie Dyson worked her way out of bases-loaded jams in both the sixth and seventh innings without allowing a run, allowing the Hawks to hang on for the win.

Hanahan will face Crescent in the series finale to decide the state championship Friday in Columbia.
