ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCIV) -- Three Orangeburg men were arrested this week and 35 video poker machines were seized at their businesses.
According to Orangeburg County Sheriff Leroy Ravenell, John Herbert Mauldin, Dennis Wilbert Knauer, and Thomas Smoak were all charged with unlawful possession of a gambling device.
Ravenell said deputies found 35 Pot-o-Gold and Crazy Bugs poker machines at Tommy's Crossroads Lounge in Orangeburg and at the Oasis Lounge and Fantasy Land in Santee.
Ravenell said 20 of the machines were in Mauldin's business; eight were in Knauer's, and seven machines were in Smoak's business.
Deputies also confiscated $6,000 in cash from the machines, Ravenell said.
Mauldin was released Friday on his own recognizance. Knauer's bond was set at $1,000, and Smoak was given a $2,500 personal recognizance bond.
