24-hour "CreateAThon" helps local nonprofits with marketing needs

MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) - Trio Solutions comes to the rescue for four local nonprofit organizations.{}{}

Trio Solutions is holding its fifth annual CreateAThon, providing pro bono creative services for four local and one national non-profit organization.{}{}

The blitz will last 24 hours, beginning Thursday at 8 a.m. and ending Friday at 8 a.m.{}

The free services include marketing, advertising, public relations, event planning, graphic design and web site development, services these organizations would normally not have the budget or funding for.{}{}

"They don't have money to advertise - and we want to help them raise money for their cause. So this is our way of helping them share their story and spread the word about their organizations," said Caitlin Ramsey, marketing assistant for Trio. "We help share their story."{}

This year's theme was super heroes. Trio staff and volunteers dressed up as their favorite hero and decorated the offices in a superhero theme.{}{}

More than 20 Lowcountry nonprofits applied to be a part of CreateAThon 2012. The lucky organizations who received help this year were: The Green Heart Project, Halos, Healing Farms, One Less Meal and Respite Care Charleston.{}{}

CreateAThon was originally created by Riggs Advertising in Columbia back in 1997, and expanded internationally in 2002. Now, 75 different agencies are a part of the creative network, holding similar events in their cities.{}

Overall, the effort has benefited more than 1,200 organizations, with projects valued at $15 million worldwide.
