Dorchester deputies arrest Berkeley deputy on domestic violence charges

    NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- A Berkeley County deputy was arrested in Dorchester County on charges of domestic violence this week.

    According to the Dorchester County Sheriff's Office, deputies responded to to a home on Shagbark Trail for reports of criminal domestic violence Thursday.

    The victim was found crying and shaking, deputies reported.

    She told deputies the suspect, 30-year-old Deangelo Lawrence Scott, had grabbed her by the neck, causing her to fall down. She said he also grabbed her face and then dragged her by her hair out to the parking lot of the apartment complex.

    Because of the visible injuries to the victim, deputies arrested Scott and notified the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office who arrived on scene to take possession of Scott's weapon and other sheriff's office property.

    Officials in Berkeley County said Scott has been suspended without pay pending the results of an internal investigation stemming from the criminal charges.

    Scott has been a deputy for six years, officials report.
