Flowers, cupcakes for Valentine's Day will help 'Save Veronica'

CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Tick tock. Valentine's Day is just six days away. Have you figured out what to get that special someone?

If you were planning on flowers or something sweet, here's a deal for you. D'lish Desserts and Branch Design Studio have teamed up to offer three packages with flowers and cupcakes. All proceeds from Valentines for Veronica will be donated to the Save Veronica fund.

Veronica Rose was taken from her adoptive parents on James Island 39 days ago. She was returned to her biological father and taken to Oklahoma under the Indian Child Welfare Act.

"You certainly don't have to be adopted to be affected by this story," said Molly Lawson, owner of D'lish Desserts. "I am adopted, my sister is adopted, my two nieces are adopted. It kind of hit a nerve when I read about this story."

Lawson contacted her friend, and fellow mom, Whitney Randall, the owner of Brand Design Studio.

"Both Molly and I have little girls that are a few months apart," Randall said. "They're just a little bit younger than Veronica. Just the thought of losing them is absolutely heartbreaking to us."

So the two women decided to do what they do bestbake and design.

Lawson will make red velvet, carrot and chocolate cupcakes. Randall will arrange and design bouquets featuring red, pink and white flowers. Supporters have three packages to choose from:

"Little V": a small floral arrangement with two Valentine's Day cupcakes

"Sweet V": a medium floral arrangement with four Valentine's Day cupcakes or

"Loveable V": a large floral arrangement with six Valentine's Day cupcakes.

For those who want to help "Save Veronica" but may not have a special someone in mind to send the gift to, the duo said they will deliver the packages to local assisted living and nursing homes on Valentine's Day.
