    CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Several organizations are holding job opportunity events around the Lowcountry in the coming week.

    Dec. 10 - 11

    Palmetto Goodwill will host two hiring events to fill 28 immediate open positions at its James Island and Summerville retail stores. Hiring managers will be on-site conducting interviews with job offers being made on the spot to those who qualify.

    James Island - Thursday, Dec. 10 at 10 a.m.
    The James Island retail location is hiring 10 Store Associates and one full-time Lead Associate. Full- and part-time positions are available. Interested applicants must pre-register by sending an email to hireme@palmettogoodwill.org with "James Island Goodwill" in the subject line. The hiring event will take place at the James Island Goodwill store located at 936 Folly Road.

    Summerville - Friday, Dec. 11 at 10 a.m.
    The Summerville retail location is hiring 15 Store Associates and two full-time Lead Associates. Full- and part-time positions are available. Interested applicants must pre-register by sending an email to hireme@palmettogoodwill.org with "Summerville Goodwill" in the subject line. The hiring event will take place at the Summerville Goodwill store located at 222 Trolley Rd.

    Applicants should dress professionally and should bring all documentation required for hire including list of references, official identification, and social security card or birth certificate.

    Holiday Help:

    Belk, Inc. is hiring an additional 5,800 seasonal employees to support locations throughout the company's 16-state footprint during the holiday season.

    Four-thousand employees will be hired to assist with sales floor functions such as selling, straightening and folding, maintaining fitting rooms, etc. The other 1,800 positions will be dedicated to store operations work such as in-store e-commerce order fulfillment, unloading and processing freight as it arrives from the distribution facility each day, prepping the sales floor and merchandising. All positions are part time position, and there are opportunities for dedicated, high-performing individuals to transition to full time Belk associates after 90 days.

    The Salvation Army is looking for help during the holidays. They are in need of bell ringers.

    Employment dates would be from November 12 until Christmas Eve and the hours would be from 11 a.m. until 8 p.m.

    The positions vary and both full-time and part-time seasonal jobs will be available.

    The company says for some workers, the positions can potentially become a regular, full-time gig.
