Medal of Honor players to visit Yorktown before big bowl game

    MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. (WCIV) -- Ninety-two college all-star senior football players fromacross the country will be on board the USS Yorktown Friday.

    According to Patriots Point officials they will be touring the shipand the Medal of Honor Museum.{}

    Theplayers, who are being scouted to play in the NFL next year, are in town forthe Medal of Honor Bowl, which takes place Saturday.{}

    The jam-packed tours are scheduled to begin at 2 p.m. and willbe led by Patriots Point volunteers, most who are veterans.

    "Many of these players are about to embark on NFL careersthat will make them recognizable sports heroes," Medal of Honor Bowl MarketingDirector Shelly Gardner said.{} "Theirvisit to Patriots Point Medal of Honor Museum is a reminder of what they areplaying for this weekend - The Medal of Honor Bowl - and to add perspective ofanother type of heroism, as we honor and celebrate America's freedoms and themany sacrifices our military heroes have rendered for us," she added.
