The funds were{}set up after authorities say a white gunman opened fire on a black church in a racially motivated attack, killing nine people, including the Rev. Clementa Pinckney, on June 17.

The Starbucks contributions{}was made possible by former employee, JA Moore, whose half sister, Myra Thompson, was{}killed in the shooting.

"Myra was more like a second mom to me than a sister because at 62 she was almost double my age, but she was the most loving woman I know and a pillar in the community," Moore said.

The city's fund will provide direct financial support for the funeral and burial expenses of the nine victims. Any funds remaining after the funeral and burial expenses are paid will be donated directly to the AME Church for use as determined by its leadership.

The purpose of the Rev. Pinckney fund is to support the victims, their families and{}ministries of the late Rev. Clementa Pinckney.
