Officials charge Hollywood man with second murder

BLUFFTON, S.C. (WCIV) -- Bluffton police charged a man accused of killing a Hollywood woman with a second murder.

According to police, Jerry Lee Manigault has been charged with the murder and sexual assault of Polly Ann Mitchell after an investigation linked him to the murder.

"On behalf of the Bluffton Police Department, I would like to say thank you to all of our fellow law enforcement partners that came out and helped us with the scene and the investigation. I would also like to thank the community for their support in helping us during this time," said Chief Joey Reynolds.

Police believe Manigault killed Mitchell on May 12 at her Buck Island Road home. Before killing her however, police say Manigault sexually assaulted the elderly woman.

He has also been charged with first-degree burglary and grand larceny.

Last month, Manigault was charged with kidnapping and killing Julia Ann Mudgett. He is currently being held in the Charleston County Detention Center.
