MT. PLEASANT, S. C. (WCIV)-{}The current job market may be fairly bleak for new college grads but, according to a new survey there are some bright spots.

According to a survey of hiring managers across different fields, 54 percent plan to hire recent college grads this year. That's up from 46 percent last year.

"I think it's trending in the right direction. We certainly see demand up across categories," according to Jennifer Grasz of CareerBuilders.

But,the class of 2012 will be up against stiff competition for jobs and that means that it could take a little longer to land a job.

So what's out there? Employers surveyed say hot jobs for grads include information technology, customer service, sales, finance and accounting and marketing.

Social networking{}is also a plus. One-in-ten employers said they would consider maintaining a blog or other platform as relevant experience.

"Building profiles online, writing a blog, whether personal or commenting on a particular industry are all things that will work in your favor," said Grasz.

In terms of compensation, the survey indicates that starting offers will fall just under $50,000.
