Hidden History: Wreckage of jet crash found in Dorchester County swamp after 60 years

Jet crash wreckage found in Lowcountry swamp (WCIV)

Just off I-26 sits the world’s largest virgin tupelo-cypress swamp. Amid the sounds of nature you’ll find something even more mysterious—the wreckage of a 1950’s U.S. Air Force jet.

The tale of the crash was swallowed by the swamp until 2017, when the land manager stumbled upon the pieces.

The mystery, why only remnants of the crash remain, and the story of the British pilot who survived will air Friday, May 4, on ABC News 4.
