Coastal Conservation League to discuss Charleston's resiliency

Bees Ferry flooding due to Irma (WCIV)

The South Carolina Coastal Conservation League will host the annual Winthrop Civic Forum, Thursday Oct 12.

This year’s panel of elected officials and experts in community, will hold a discussion on resilience in Charleston.

The key discussion points will be: community design, disaster vulnerability and resilience science.

"The timing and topic of this year's forum are uncanny," the Conservation League's Chief Conservation Officer Lisa Turansky said.

"A summer of frequent flooding and Irma's surge elevated the urgency and necessity of this conversation.”

The forum will be held in the Colonial ballroom of the Francis Marion Hotel from 530 to 730PM.

It is free and open to the public.
