CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — The Charleston County Sheriff's Office has announced that Master Deputy Paul McManigal was recognized by the U.S. Secret Service as one of the nation's top 30 computer forensic examiners in 2017.
Deputy McManigal is assigned as a Task Force Officer the the Secret Service's Electronic Crimes Task Force. The sheriff's office says examiners preform about 116 examinations annually, and says Deputy McManigal led South Carolina with 241 examinations in 2017.
The sheriff's office says electronic devices are commonly used to conducted, conceal, or capture criminal activity. It says their partnership with the Secret Service provides invaluable help with investigating and prosecuting crimes.
