2 fatally shot on Samantha Way in Goose Creek, Berkeley Co. deputies investigating
GOOSE CREEK, S.C. (WCIV) —
UPDATE: The Berkeley County Coroner's Office has identified the couple killed, and the sheriff's office has ruled the deaths a murder-suicide.
The Berkeley County Sheriff's Office is investigating after two people were shot and killed on Samantha Way in Goose Creek. The call came in around 5:15 p.m.
When police arrived, one victim was already dead. The other one was taken to Trident Medical and died there, according to Berkeley County deputies.
The preliminary investigation points to a murder-suicide after a domestic dispute, police said.
The coroner has not yet released the names of the victims. The investigation is still ongoing.
Goose Creek High School announced on Facebook the school was put on a precautionary lockdown around 6:00 p.m. after reports of shots fired in the area.
Officials say the lockdown went into effect near the end of the fall festival, and everyone on campus sheltered in place.
The lockdown was lifted around 6:30 p.m., and the school said a planned performance of "Little Shop of Horrors' at 7:00 p.m. would go on as scheduled.
