
GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WPDE) — An Andrews man has been charged by the Georgetown County Sheriff's Office with the robbery and murder of a 64-year-old man.
On Jan. 22, 2019, GCSO says deputies responded to a deceased man found in his own yard at 105 Olmstead Street in the Little Italy community near Andrews.
Deputies say they were able to quickly determine that Bernard Patterson had been robbed and shot on his own front porch after answering his door. He died of his injuries.
An investigation, including analysis of physical evidence and extensive witness interviews, led theGeorgetown County Sheriff’s Office Criminal Investigation Division to charge Dexter Jaamal Grant, 30, in connection with the death of Patterson, according to GCSO.
Grant faces charges of murder, armed robbery, criminal conspiracy, possession of a weapon during a violent crime and possession of a handgun by persons prohibited, GCSO says.
Grant is being held at the Georgetown County Detention Center, according to deputies.
