Berkeley High student arrested with gun at school facing multiple charges
MONCKS CORNER, SC (WCIV) —
The teen arrested for carrying a gun at Berkeley High School, has been charged with unlawful carrying of a pistol and carrying a weapon on school grounds.
Both are juvenile charges.
Moncks Corner Police say the student was arrested for possession of a gun Thursday at Berkeley High School.
Authorities say an SRO was acting on a tip and arrested the 15-year-old student after finding a gun in the student's backpack.
Someone reportedly saw the student with the gun at a bus stop, and reported him to authorities, according to a message sent to parents by Berkeley County School District officials.
Police say they can't say yet if the gun was loaded.
The teen is being housed in the juvenile detention center. The investigation continues.
