Body found under Huger St. overpass investigated as homicide

A body was found under the Huger Street overpass Thursday morning, and officials with the Charleston Police Department say the agency now has its 7th homicide of the year.

The body, according to CPD spokesman Charles Francis, is that of a middle-aged black man. Francis said the body was discovered by a passerby at around 9 a.m., and there was "visible trauma."

As of 10:15 a.m. there were no suspects identified. Further information about the cause of death will come from the Charleston County Coroner's Office.

CPD is seeking the public's help in their investigation of an assault that occurred between Wednesday, November 1st and early on the morning of Thursday, November 2nd.
