Daniel Island drug bust lands 2 in jail, including apartment complex manager
DANIEL ISLAND, S.C. (WCIV) —
Berkeley County authorities have arrested two people in connection to a drug bust at a Daniel Island apartment complex Thursday.
While investigating drug activity at the Simmons Park apartment complex on Daniel Island, the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office says its Drug Enforcement Unit executed a search warrant at the residence of Joshua J. Granite, 47.
Inside Granite's residence, the sheriff's office says deputies found the following:
- 56 grams of a wax that that field tested presumptive to contain THC.
- 500 grams of a green, plant like material that that field tested presumptive to contain THC
- 61 E-Cigs that contained a substance that that field tested presumptive to contain THC
Deputies say they also found several gummy bears that were sent off for laboratory analysis.
Granite was arrested and charged with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of THC edibles with intent to distribute, possession of THC oil with the intent to distribute, and possession of THC wax with intent to distribute.
Deputies say they also arrested the apartment complex manager, Ashlee Thorp. Deputies arrested Thorp, 40, after reportedly discovering she sent Granite messages "in an attempt to obstruct the investigation," the sheriff's office says.
Both Granite and Thorp are in jail at the Hill Finklea Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing.
