A man who was on the FBI's 10 Most Wanted list has been killed during a standoff with law enforcement Wednesday in North Carolina.

The FBI and the Apex Police Dept. were following up on a tip that Greg Allen Carlson was inside a room at the Woodspring Suites on Lufkin Road. State and federal law enforcement located the room and attempted to take the man into custody, but during the standoff, the suspect, who the FBI says was armed, was shot and killed.

The FBI says they believe the man killed is Carlson, who's wanted out of Los Angeles for multiple armed sexual assaults. He's been on the FBI's Most Wanted list since September 2018.

Carlson was spotted in the Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, area back in October.
