A Berkeley County jury could not come to a decision Friday in the murder trial for Michael Colucci, a Summerville, South Carolina jeweler accused of killing his wife at their family store in 2015.

The hung jury notified Circuit Judge Deadra Jefferson of their stalemate Friday morning, after a day and a half of deliberation.

Colucci, who was defended by attorney Andy Savage, was charge in 2016 with his late wife's 2015 death. Sarah Moore-Colucci was found dead at the family's Summerville jewelry store with a garden hose around her neck, officials say.

Colucci claimed his wife hanged herself in an apparent suicide, but a state investigation resulted in a murder charge for the jeweler.

Colucci is now free on bond.
