Summerville Police say they arrested a man Friday after he boarded a school bus during a stop on its morning route.

Trevor Lamont Coleman, 32, is in jail at the Dorchester County Detention Center awaiting a bond hearing on a charge of interference with a school bus, Summerville Police Lt. Nick Santanna said Friday.

According to Dorchester School District 2 spokesperson Pat Raynor, the man boarded a bus bound for Summerville High School when the bus stopped to pick up students from Creekside Mobile Home Park, located off Bacons Bridge Road and Swinton Road in Summerville.

DD2 officials say the man boarded the bus allegedly over a community issue that involved a student.

Police were called, but the man had gotten off the bus and left the scene by the time they arrived. The man was arrested a short time later, DD2 officials say.

Some students claimed the man may have had a gun, but police did not find a weapon during their investigation, the school district says.

The bus continued on its route after the incident.
