What originally was reported to officers as a suicide is now being investigated as a homicide, according to North Charleston Police.

NCPD officials say they've launched a homicide investigation based on autopsy results from a man found dead on the porch of a Navajo Street home early Wednesday morning, Dec. 26. The man suffered a gunshot wound to his head, police say.

Investigators spoke to the victim's girlfriend, who claimed he walked out of their residence in the middle of a conversation with her. The woman said she heard the gun go off moments after the victim left the house.

Police arrested another man at the home on drug charges during their initial response. The case remains under investigation. The victim's name has not been released by the Charleston County Coroner's Office.
