Police find rifle, drugs at West Ashley High School, two students arrested

Charleston Police say two West Ashley High School students have been arrested after drugs and a rifle were found in their vehicles.

The items were found Thursday during a K9 sweep requested by school officials, Charleston Police public information officer Charles Francis says.

Police found a gram of marijuana and a rifle in one of the vehicles and prescription drugs and drug paraphernalia in another vehicle, police say.

Kyle Salter and Leslie Kahle, both 17, have been arrested, according to police.

Salter is charged with simple possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and having a weapon on school property.

Kahle is charged with possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a controlled substance schedule I-V.

Both students were transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center
