Police make arrest in North Charleston hit-and-run that injured adult, 2-year-old

Police have arrested 27-year-old LaKresha Cochrane of Azalea Drive for the March 17 hit-and-run collision at Azalea and Meridian Roads that injured an adult and 2-year-old child.

Cochrane was charged with leaving the scene with injury and driving under suspension, first offense.

She was transported to the Al Cannon Detention Center on Thursday morning.

The North Charleston Police Department says the incident happened just before 8:30 p.m.

9-1-1 calls show that an adult and a child were laying in the middle of the road.

Both victims were transported to the hospital for treatment.

Police say they located a the vehicle March 20 at a residence off Azalea Drive after getting a tip it was there.

According to investigators, there was broken windshield glass outside and inside the vehicle.

Officers identified Cochrane as the owner of the vehicle, and were able to determine she'd been in the location of the hit-and-run by cell phone records, according to a police report.

A judge Thursday set Cochrane's bond at $75,000.
