Berkeley County authorities are asking for the public's help tracking down a Summerville-area man's prized possession -- a custom 1969 Gibson "Les Paul" electric guitar.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office, the guitar and a Peavey mini-channel speaker were stolen from a home on Red Oak Circle in the Summerville area sometime after November 2.

The guitar features the traditional Gibson "Les Paul" round-top design with a single cutaway in the body near the top of the fret board.

The guitar is painted Dodge Super Blue to match a popular mid-1970s vehicle paint.

Deputies say the owner tells them there are few other defining characteristics that set the guitar apart, including:

  • The toggle is a lighter color than the pick guard.
  • There is a light scrape on the back, near the input jack.
  • The third turning key from the bottom is loose.

If anyone knows the whereabouts of the guitar, please contact the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office at 843-719-4465, or Crime Stoppers of the Lowcountry at 843-554-1111.
