Tavern & Table issues statement after restaurant manager shot in robbery
The restaurant manager at Mount Pleasant's Tavern & Table is recovering in a local hospital after being shot in an armed robbery Wednesday night.
Tavern & Table owner Dianne Crowley issued a statement on the restaurant's Facebook page Thursday, confirming restaurant manager Chris Dixon was shot in the incident.
Crowley says Dixon "did everything he was supposed to do in the face of an emergency," yet the robber still shot him "for no reason."
According to Crowley, Dixon underwent surgery overnight Thursday, and is now stable and recovering.

Last night our restaurant, Tavern & Table on Shem Creek, was robbed at gunpoint. Our manager, Chris Dixon, was shot and had surgery overnight. Right now our first and only thoughts are for Chris and his adorable family. Chris has been part of our restaurants for a long time. We’ve watched him grow from an eager young man to a devoted and kind family man. Most of you will remember him as the general manager of the Wild Wing on the Market.
I’m always proud of our “family” and how we rally to care for our own. Last night Chris did everything he was supposed to do in the face of an emergency and this cretin chose to shoot him for no reason. Our staff showed bravery and quick thinking in the aftermath. They have all suffered a very traumatic experience and they are shook. Those of you who know us know that we will all rally around the Dixon family.
Our prayers and love surround them and we will all have their back. We are going to close for lunch today. At 2 today our staff is getting together and we are going to kick off that meeting with a prayer for his complete recovery. No matter where you are at 2pm, please take a minute to do the same.
He is out of surgery and stable. We’ll keep you posted on his recovery. #prayforchris - Dianne Crowley and our Tavern & Table team.
