Suspect charged after Robeson County teen killed in 'tragic incident'

A teen is dead following a shooting Wednesday night in Robeson County, according to Pembroke Police Chief Adrian Hunt.

Hunt said when officers arrived at the scene on Roberts Avenue, they found the 17-year-old with a gunshot wound.

He added that first responders and police provided life-saving measures for the teen and he was transported by EMS to UNC Southeastern Hospital where he later died from his injuries.

According to Chief Hunt, the suspect, 37-year-old Marshall D. Hunt and the victim were acquaintances.

This is a tragic gun safety handling event that should have never taken place," said Chief Hunt. "Our hearts go out to the family of the victim and all those affected by this tragic incident.

Chief Hunt said after an investigation into the incident was conducted Marshal Hunt was charged with involuntary manslaughter. He's currently being held at the Robeson County Detention Center on a $50,000 secured bond.
