Woman charged in death of man found on Rivers Avenue
A North Charleston woman is facing charges connected to the death of a man found unresponsive in the middle of Rivers Avenue Sunday evening.
Police say Sara Jones faces a charge of leaving the scene of an accident involving death.
Officers were dispatched at around 8:20 p.m. to I-526 and Rivers Avenue after a report of an unresponsive man in the road. EMS and other officials later arrived on the scene and said the man died from injuries consistent with being struck by a vehicle.
Investigators say they caught up with Sara Jones following a 911 call about 20 minutes later. Dispatchers say a woman called and said she struck a deer. Officers say they visited the caller, who was Sara Jones.
