Middle school student made verbal threat, Georgetown County School District says
A student at a Georgetown Middle School made a verbal threat regarding possession and use of a weapon earlier on Thursday.
The Georgetown County School District says school officials immediately notified law enforcement and investigated into the matter.
School district officials say after searching and interviewing the student they found that the student did not have a weapon. School officials also say the student intended the statement to be a joke or a prank.
“Because these types of statements are completely unacceptable, the student was dealt with immediately and will receive severe disciplinary consequences,” the Georgetown County School District said.
School officials said there is no imminent danger to the students or staff at Georgetown Middle School.
