Reality TV star Kim Kardashian-West is working to find former Tennessee inmate Matthew Charles housing in Nashville. The celebrity put out a plea on social media Friday after the former inmate's lease application was denied again due to his criminal record.

Charles garnered attention nationwide after being the first prisoner released as a result of the First Step Act. Since his release on Jan. 3, Charles has struggled to find a home in Music City.

Kim Kardashian-West pledged to pay his rent for five years. Even with the superstar's financial assistance, the former inmate's lease applications continue to be rejected.

Now, Kim Kardashian-West asked for Twitter's help finding landlords with a two bedroom apartment willing to give Charles a chance.

"Matthew Charles’s lease application was rejected again bc of his criminal record (even w me paying his rent in advance). If there are any landlords w a 2 bedroom in Nashville willing to give Mr Charles a 2nd chance, contact Serious inquiries only, thank you," Kardashian West tweeted.

In 1996, Charles was sentenced to 35 years behind bars for selling crack cocaine. He spent 21 years in prison before being released in 2016 due to the Fair Sentencing Act.

But two years later, the Department of Justice said Charles was released in error and ordered him to go back. So, he turned himself in as celebrities like Kardashian-West tweeted in support of his freedom.

He was freed again on Jan. 3 under the First Step Act and attended the State of the Union address; the White House calling his life "a story of redemption."
