10 day Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. tribute begins Sunday

Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. delivers the "I have a dream" speech

The Young Women's Christian Association of Greater Charleston coordinates one of Charleston's longest running events.

Organizers say the 10-day celebration is South Carolina's largest tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

It features worship services, a parade and a business and professional breakfast to celebrate the late Dr. King's life and legacy.

Five local churches will have worship services beginning Sunday, January 7.

There will be several events throughout the week, including a parade on Monday, January 15.

That would have marked Dr. King's 89th birthday.

All of the events between January 7 through the January 15 are free to the public.

The MLK Business and Professional Breakfast will close out the tribute.

It will be at the Gaillard Center on Tuesday January 16.

Tickets for the breakfast are $45
