18th arrest for North Charleston attempted murder suspect, records show

Correction: Due to incorrect information in the North Charleston police report, it was originally reported that King was arrested at EZ Cutts Barber Shop. He was arrested at Platnium Cuts Barber Shop on Rivers Avenue.

The 26-year-old suspect charged in the Jan. 2 shooting outside a North Charleston nightclub had been arrested 17 previous times, according to the South Carolina State Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

Thailando Daiquan King, of North Charleston, was arrested on Jan. 4, charged with attempted murder and possession of a weapon during a violent crime for the shooting outside Dreams Sports Cafe on Dorchester Road.

According to a police report, North Charleston Police were called to the nightclub around 11:30 p.m. and found a 33-year-old North Charleston man shot in the stomach in the parking lot.

The security guard told police he heard a single shot and went outside to help the victim. A witness described the suspect as a short black male wearing a grey jumpsuit, according to the report.

Police officers found one shell casing, a white rock-like substance and drinking cup on the ground, all collected as evidence, according to the report.

King was arrested two days later at Platinum Cuts Barber Shop on Rivers Avenue on Jan. 4, according to the police report.

According to arrest records with SLED, King has previously been arrested on several drug charges and unlawfully carrying a weapon.
