WEST ASHLEY, S.C. (WCIV) — On Wednesday, Heather Remington, a witness to the fatal Citadel Mall shooting, shared what she saw happen Tuesday night.
"My husband and I were going to eat a Sesame Burger. We pulled into the parking lot and got out. As soon as we got out of the car, we heard a guy screaming and hollering. We immediately turned around and it looked like an argument. Thirty to 45 seconds after that, gunfire.”
Remington says she only heard one gunshot, but her husband says he heard two.
Shortly after the gunshots, Remington says a car crashed into another vehicle in the parking lot.
Remington says she immediately ran into the mall and called 9-1-1 and warned everyone inside about the shooting.
She says the mall was on lock down for at least an hour, before visitors could leave.
According to the incident report provided by Charleston Police Department, the woman in Tuesday's shooting was only 23-years-old.
Remington says she failed to get a good look at the male suspect.
Police are still looking searching for him.
