People looking to stock up on hurricane supplies in the Charleston area won't find any Wal Mart stores open Tuesday.

That includes Walmart locations in Mt. Pleasant, James Island, West Ashley, Goose Creek, Moncks Corner and Summerville.

Walmart closures extend up the South Carolina coast and includes stores in Myrtle Beach, Georgetown and Conway.

The closest Walmart open to the tri-county area is in Walterboro, according to corporate headquarters.

According to corporate Walmart headquarters, the Sam's Club in North Charleston remained opens as of Tuesday at 1 p.m.

Local stores had signs posted on their doors that the locations will remain closed until further notification, noting in some locations that the closure was prompted by the evacuation order which went into effect at noon Tuesday.
