BCSO arrests Hanahan man wanted in suspicion of attempted murder

The Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office arrested a man on Thursday, December 14 that was being sought on an arrest warrant for attempted murder.

Michael Bennet, 31, of Hanahan was arrested from an attempted murder incident that happened on Sunday, November 26.

Police believe he approached the victim who was walking on Seagreen Lane in the Goose Creek area of Berkeley County.

As Bennet approached the victim he took a handgun out and fired, said police.

Police said the gunshots hit the victim several times.

The victim was taken to Trident Medical Center, police said.

During Bennett’s arrest police said they located a .40 caliber Springfield pistol.

The handgun was found to be stolen from Charleston County which will add an additional warrant for possession of a stolen firearm, police said.

Bennett was booked into the Hill-Finklea Detention Center where he will await bond hearing.
