Berkeley County School District officials have sent a precautionary letter to parents after a student was diagnosed with viral meningitis.
Staff at Westview Primary were informed this week a student had been diagnosed with the illness over the weekend, district spokesperson Katie Tanner said Wednesday.
The district is notifying parents or guardians of children who may have been exposed to let them know about the diagnosis, Orvin said.
Parents and guardians also are being provided with information about the symptoms of meningitis and how it is spread in case they fear their child may have been exposed.
