If you are crazy about everything happening with the Olympics and you are looking for a watch party to attend, Burke High School may have your answer.

The school's athletic department, along with the City of Charleston Parks and Recreation Department, is working to host a watch party for "Charleston's favorite shot putter," Raven Saunders.

Raven is a sophomore at Ole Miss. In June she became the NCAA shot put champion and set an new NCAA record with a throw of 63 feet and 5 inches. She also took the title as a freshman.

While in high school at Burke, Saunders set an indoor shot put record of 56-feet, 7.5-inches at the New Balance Indoor Nationals.

Saunders held the top spot on the shot put leader board in the Olympic Trials until the final throw of the night when Michelle Carter had a throw barely edge out Saunders' spot.

What's Raven's secret? In a March 2015 interview, she said it's a snack of peanut butter and honey. While we don't know if that will be served during the watch party, we hope she gets enough peanut butter and honey to bring home the gold.

The watch party will be held at the Burke High School Auditorium on Friday, August 12.

Doors to the auditorium will open at 7:30 p.m. for the event. The finals will begin at 9:00 p.m. Access to the auditorium will be available from Sumter Street.

Attendees are encouraged to park on Sumter Street and the surrounding area on the Burke side of campus as the Sertoma Classic will also be going on simultaneously at Johnson-Hagood Stadium nearby.

"Please come out in support of a trend setting athlete who has captured the hearts of, not only, everyone in Charleston, but also the hearts of everyone all over the world," the school's athletic department posted on its website.
