CCSO: 2-car crash on Highway 162 leaves 1 dead, not wearing seat belt

Charleston County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call shortly after 7 p.m. concerning a traffic accident on S.C. Highway 162 near Gibson Road.

The traffic accident involved a Toyota and Dodge pickup truck, officers say.

Both vehicles collided as the Toyota was traveling east on S.C. HWY 162, and the Dodge truck was traveling west on S.C. HWY 162. The Dodge slowed down to make a left turn on to Gibson road and this is when both cars collided, officers say.

The accident left two people in the Toyota seriously injured and third person was pronounced dead at the scene. The two-people traveling in the Dodge sustained serious injuries. All people involved were taken to MUSC, CCSO says.

Per reports, the deceased was not wearing a seat belt.

The accident is still being investigated by CCSO.
