Charlamagne Tha God visits Moncks Corner for annual turkey giveaway
The nationally syndicated The Breakfast Club radio host, Charlamagne Tha God, was in Moncks Corner today just in time for Thanksgiving.
Third Eye Witness and Charlamagne Tha God were giving out over 500 turkeys at the old Berkeley High School gymnasium today from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
This is the fourth year Charlamagne and Third Eye Witness have done the turkey giveaway, and the Moncks Corner native also has a Back to School drive every year.
Fun fact, Charlamagne also graduated from Berkeley High and Trident Tech.
“When you have a platform like I do, and you’re able to provide, this is what you’re supposed to be doing,” said Charlamagne.
He also explained why he gives back to his community, "Moncks Corner, South Carolina made me who I am, and I didn't leave South Carolina until 2006. So between Moncks Corner and Columbia, they raised me. Furthermore, I learned how to do radio here, so why wouldn't I come back and return the favor."
Guests were allowed one turkey per household with valid identification while supplies lasted.
When asked what the most gratifying thing is about the turkey giveaway, Charlamagne said “Boiled peanuts. You can’t get boiled peanuts up north.”
Charlamagne says he's going to continue to give back to his community until the day he dies.
Later in the day, Charlamagne posted this picture on his Instagram:
