Charleston County deputies charge 2nd man with attempted murder in James Island shooting

A second person has been arrested on an attempted murder charge for a shooting on James Island June 5.

Melvin Aiken Jr. was arrested by Charleston County Deputies, and went before a judge on June 14.

According to an affidavit, Aiken is accused of knowingly and willingly acting as an accomplice to Steven Ladson, who deputies say shot at someone on Greenhill Road.

The affidavit continues to say, Aiken’s main role was to restrict the victim’s movements and assaulted the victim multiple times. The victim was shot shortly afterwards.

Charleston County Deputies say on June 5th, at the scene, they found multiple shell casings and a damaged car.

A judge set Aiken’s bond at $200,000.
