CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) - The Pastor of Southside Baptist Church has been charged with domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and told not to leave the state. 35 year-old Pastor Rashan L. Wilson is accused of 'choking out' the pregnant mother of his two biological children, during an alleged custody exchange, that turned violent.

Authorities say Monday, Jan 14th around 11:54 p.m., they were called on the scene of a physical domestic incident that occurred at 87 Beaufain Street.

According to court documents, when authorities arrived on the scene, the victim told North Charleston police, she drove from her home in North Charleston to meet Pastor Wilson to drop off their two children. The victim stated they had an agreement that he would take the kids at that time of the night, but when she arrived, Wilson refused to take the children and told her to leave.

The police report states, Wilson began walking toward Beaufain Street away from the suspect and she followed behind him. According to the report, Wilson quickly turned around lunging toward the victim with both of his hands, squeezing tightly until she became unconscious. The victim told police she blacked out and hit her head on the concrete.

According to court documents, the victim says this was the first time she has reported a domestic violence incident, but alleges there have been many physical altercations in the pasts. The victim says she was in a previous relationship with Wilson for five years, but they never married.

Wilson has been issued a no contact order for the victim and cannot leave the state.
