CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCIV) — Charleston Police say they've determined there is no credible threat to the safety of students at C.E. Williams Middle School after rumors of a potential school shooting plot Tuesday.
Charles Francis, spokesman for the Charleston Police Department, said officers investigating reports of a possible school shooting threat spoke to two students involved.
Francis says one student claimed she observed the make the school shooting threat, and alerted authorities. The boy accused of making the threat denied the accusation to officers, Francis say.
Upon further investigation, officers determined there was no credible threat of violence, and referred the students to school and Charleston County School District administration for further handling of the matter and possible discipline.
ABC News 4 contacted CCSD spokesman Andy Pruitt Tuesday with questions about the incident from the school district's perspective. Pruitt says district officials are looking into the matter, and he will get back to us.
