Coroner identifies father killed by son in 'self-defense,' according to investigators

The Charleston County Coroner has released the name of a man who passed away in connection with a shooting on September 23.

Timothy Riley, a 37-year-old male from North Charleston, died along South Kenwood Drive in North Charleston on September 23 from a gunshot wound, police say.

On the night of the incident, Officers ran towards the sound of several gunshots and found a person with a firearm in their hand.

Mr. Riley died at the scene and was found in his driveway with gunshot wounds.

A 22-year-old suspect has been identified, according to a police report.

No charges have been filed and the North Charleston Police Department is still investigating the incident.
